At this point, the ONLY way to communicate with the switch is through its console port, which is connected to the PC‟s serial port. We‟ll confirm this later by attempting to ping the other devices. Thus, currently your PC can not use Ethernet to contact any other device. (Deletes startup configuration stored in flash memory.) In a terminal session, use minicom to initiate the connection to the switch via the serial cable. In the instructions that follow SwitchX refers to the switch to which you are connected - either SwitchA, SwitchB or SwitchC. If so, move it to the console port on the switch. The serial cable may be connected to the console port on the router. Ensure that the serial cable from your computer is connected to the console port on your switch.
